Abstract:

Graduate employability has been increasingly the focus of higher education institutionsin thePhilippines. The demand for higher level of skillincludesfrequent updating of skills,andexcellenttechnical skills, thus, employers look for graduates who are flexible and willing tolearn on the job, technically competent and committed to excellence.Meanwhile, thisresearchundertaking aimed to gather employer’s feedback onthe performance of graduates inJoseRizalMemorial State University.Specifically,it determines the number of graduates employed interms of course program. Further, this paper finds out the employer’s rating as to variousattributes of the graduates.It utilized a descriptive survey method,utilizing achecklistquestionnaire with 86 employers as target samplerespondents of the study who hired graduatesof JRMSU from SY 2010–2011 to 2014–2015. The result revealed that most of the employedemployees are the Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Computer Science graduates ofJRMSU. Moreover, there are industries that cater or hire JMRSU graduatesthough their courseis not suitable. It also further noted, industries suggestion that there are areas the graduates ofJRMSU should pay attention such as verbal communication skills, analytical and criticalthinking skills and initiative and enterprise. Generally, employers are quitepositive about theperformance and competence the graduates of the College of Arts and Sciences possessed. It isrecommended that the university curriculum designing may be participated by stakeholders andvarious industries that wouldmaximizethe new graduate achievement and capabilities thatcount for early professional success.
