LGBTQIA+ Inclusion and Social Justice: Rethinking Gender Diversity for Inclusive Development in India

This research paper examines the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community in India and evaluates the role of inclusive policies in achieving social justice and equitable development. The study highlights structural discrimination rooted in heteronormative social norms, patriarchy, and cultural taboos that affect the socio-economic and political participation of LGBTQIA+ individuals. Using sociological and intersectional perspectives, the paper analyzes barriers in education, employment, healthcare, housing, and digital spaces. It also reviews significant legal developments such as the recognition of transgender rights and the decriminalization of same-sex relations while emphasizing the gap between legal reforms and social acceptance.
