Abstract:

This innovative attempt is meant to analyze a recently published novel The Freedom Artist (2019) by an illustrious Nigerian writer Ben Okri. For this intent Freud theory of psychoanalysis is kept in view as a theoretical framework by the researcher. The analysis is carried out through the actions performed by the major characters. Mental states of the major characters along with their certain behaviors are due to certain motives and consequences which are the major subject matter of psychoanalysis. Ben Okri has significantly created a bridge between psychotherapy and literature through fascinating language and crispy style. The study is qualitative in nature and is carried out through mental depiction and consequences of the said actions. Although, there are other mechanics of analysis, but the researcher has utilized Freud‘s psychoanalytical theory of analysis bearing in mind the objective of the study.
